Many firms have operations that are sensitive to weather conditions and have adopted
standard operating procedures (SOPs) pertaining to weather. These procedures are
typically focused on safety as well as preventing/reducing emissions from on-site
activities: emissions from a stack, a leak from a storage vessel
or pipeline, fugitive emissions or wind-blown dust, etc.
Management and operational staff rely on a number of sources of data in the execution
of these procedures. For example, meteorological conditions can be measured and
recorded on-site and used to notify operators when adverse conditions are occurring.

to be taken in advance.

information in the right resolution (in time or space) required by industry.
